What We Do, We Will Do Well
Made by people who would put their name on it.
A pack has to perform on your production line, protect the product inside and look great on the shelf. Miss one and it is your brand that pays for it. We manufacture for all three.
The pack in hand
Looks exactly as the brand manager intended, the hundredth order as precisely as the first.
The structure inside
Protects the product across every step of the journey, from filling line to shelf.
The print on the front
Lands the same way as last time. The colour holds to the brand standard.
Every stage of the pack, under one roof.
Pre-press to pouch, the entire conversion happens on one site in Ratmalana. No handoffs between suppliers, no gaps where the standard can slip, one operating system, one accountability.
01Design & pre-press
Artwork built and checked in-house at the front of the process, before any press starts.
02Extrusion
Film made in-house. The structure is controlled before printing begins.
03Printing
Rotogravure for large orders, CI flexographic printing for mid-size orders, up to nine colours on both.
04Lamination
Solvent, solventless and water-based, chosen to the brief, not the convenience.
05Conversion
Stand-up, spout and flat-bottom pouches as specialist formats, not afterthoughts.
Tooling & inks: cylinders, plates and inks sourced from integrated suppliers and held to Varna’s own standard.
Proven by Time, Not Claims
We have been at this since 1961, long enough to know packaging is really a promise: that what you signed off is what reaches the shelf, each and every time.
The brands that first trusted us decades ago are still here. In this business, that is the only proof that counts.
Get the structure right, before you commit to it.
A pack that samples beautifully, then delaminates or jams your line at volume, is the failure that lands on whoever signed it off. Film, print and format are engineered in-house, so the structure is solved as one system before you qualify it, not patched on your line.
- Structure and machinability consulting before production
A supplier who is still standing at your next audit.
Losing a certified source mid-year is a recall risk, a compliance gap and a scramble, all at once. Six decades of unbroken operation mean the supplier you qualify this year is still delivering, and still passing, the next.
- Documented corrective action on every quality event
When an order goes wrong, you are not left carrying it.
Some suppliers go quiet, blame your line, or drip-feed a fix while your customer waits. We engage before the brief closes and own the outcome after it ships, with documented root-cause correction, not excuses.
- Fast turnaround on change requests and new-product qualification

Hear from our customers
Relationships at Varna are measured in decades, not orders.
From our very first order, Varna worked alongside us, not across the table. They dug into the details, shared ownership of outcomes, and scaled as we grew. A decade later, what keeps us here isn’t a price sheet; it’s trust. Clear communication, accountable people, and a team that wants our brand to win. With Varna, we’re not just a customer; we’re a brand they treat as their own.
Give us one project.
You decide after that. Not a switch today, just a look at what a technical partner does that a transactional supplier cannot.
The questions you ask first.
How we quote, what we stand behind, and how we ship.
Ordering and lead times
How quickly does Varna respond to an enquiry?
Varna answers every enquiry within one business day, with a real technical answer rather than a holding reply.
What is the minimum order?
As a guide, from 20,000 pouches, or 200 kg for reel form, though this is indicative rather than a fixed minimum. The minimum order quantity depends on several technical and commercial factors, including the material structure, product format, manufacturing process, printing method (printed or unprinted), machine selection, pouch size, film gauge, number of colours, and other process requirements, so it is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Varna makes everything from small specialist orders through to multi-container contracts.
What lead time should we expect?
Around 21 days from approved artwork to first delivery is typical, but lead time varies depending on the product category, manufacturing process, artwork approval timeline, and whether the product is printed or unprinted. Different product categories require different manufacturing routes, so a single lead time may not reflect every case. Cromalin contract proofs come within 3 to 5 days, so colour is signed off before a cylinder is cut.
Does Varna provide samples before production?
Yes. Varna provides samples so you can validate the pack on your own line before committing to a full order.
Quality and certification
What certifications does Varna hold?
BRCGS Packaging Materials and FSSC 22000, maintained through every repeat audit to date.
How is quality controlled on every order?
Varna’s in-house laboratory checks each order against the specification you signed off, with inline print inspection on the gravure and flexo presses. The external acceptance rate holds at 98.8% at customer goods-inward.
Are your inks and adhesives food-safe?
Yes. Food-safe inks and adhesives are used as standard, not as a paid upgrade.
Materials and sustainability
Can you produce recyclable or mono-material packaging?
Yes, where the application allows. Varna develops mono-material recyclable structures on brief, without trading away barrier or compliance.
How sustainable is production?
25% of Varna’s factory power is generated by on-site solar, with lean practices that cut material waste across every line.
Can you help lighten an existing pack?
Yes. We down-gauge and redesign structures to take material and cost out, while holding the barrier and machinability the product needs.
Export and support
Do you supply export markets?
Yes. Varna ships to export markets across the region and beyond, with structures built to hold seal and barrier through long supply chains.
Will you help specify the right structure?
Yes. We come in early, work through how the product fills, seals and performs on your line, and propose practical options before the brief is closed.
